While there's a choice of two battery sizes for the Q4 e-tron (52 or 77kWh), which one you get depends on which powertrain you select. The same is true of the car's charging speed, with the entry-level model capable of up to 100kW, while higher-spec versions can recharge at 125kW if you can find a fast enough charger.

Audi Q4 e-tron range
The entry-level Q4 35 e-tron has a 52kWh battery and is capable of covering up to 208 miles on a charge. More expensive trim levels have slightly lower maximum ranges due to their larger wheels; for example, the Vorsprung is claimed to be capable of 193 miles at most.

The larger 77kWh battery in the Q4 40 e-tron gives it a maximum range of 316 miles, but again, higher trim levels have ranges as low as 294 miles. The top-of-the-range Q4 50 e-tron quattro also features the larger 77kWh battery and has a maximum range of 294 miles.

When Driving Electric tested the Q4 40 e-tron, it indicated only around 270 miles of range on a full charge (compared to the official number of 316 miles) and its efficiency on the test drive indicated that was an entirely realistic estimate.

Charge time
The entry-level Q4 35 e-tron is capable of 100kW rapid charging from public points, as well as charging at up to 7.2kW from a home wallbox. According to Audi, it'll take around seven and a half hours to recharge the smaller 52kWh battery in the 35 e-tron model from a domestic charger.

The Q4 40 e-tron and Q4 50 e-tron quattro are both capable of charging at up to 125kW and can also charge at up to 11kW from a three-phase domestic charger. However, if you use a regular 7.4kW home wallbox, it'll take you 11-and-a-half hours to top up the 77kWh battery to full capacity.

When it comes to rapid charging, Audi claims you’ll be able to recharge all models from 5-80% capacity in 38 minutes if you find a public charger capable of supplying power fast enough. Or if you’re in a hurry, you can add 80 miles of range by spending just 10 minutes plugged in.
