Have I made a mistake?

A few weeks back I pleased to place an order for a Q4 40 Sport Sportsback in Pebble Grey as my next company car.
When I saw one - Loved it's look and the amount of space inside.
Unfortunately - it was only after I ordered it that I joined this forum - and then saw the horrors of the waiting time. I had no warning from anyone about this prior to me placing the order.
Despite multiple calls to the supplying dealer as well as the leasing company - I have had no information whatsoever about any estimated delivery date.
As I am late to the party, judging my current lead times for those who have ordered months before me - I estimate it could be 18 months to possibly 24 months.
My current car contract finishes in September, normally the leases would simply be extended if a new vehicle was delayed . But as my current car is now too small for my growing family this is not really an option for such an extended period.
I love the Q4 - but would certainly have picked from another manufacturer, if there had been some transparency in the delivery delays prior to me placing the order.
For the time being - I have delayed the free Pod Point installation.

Hi,

Really odd, and annoying that no one has told you about the delays, especially as this has been going on since last year where delivery then was at least 6 months for the Q4, but now could be 12 - 24 months. And this isn’t just Audi, as it affects just about every manufacturer. Your leasing company must have know, so why they didn’t tell you is a mystery.

If you can wait, the car is amazing.

Yeah the cars great, very few electric cars out there that look and feel like a traditional car if you know what I mean?

However the delays are real. I don't think any of us got our car on time and by all accounts the delays are getting worse with what's happening in Eastern Europe.

I would be inclined to maybe see what car you can get that's actually in stock, Polestar for example seem to have a lot of pre-configured cars ready to go within a few weeks.

Edit - I spoke too soon 😥

For me the Q4 is by far the best car on the market.
Not a great fan of the looks / interior / quality of the Tesla - but the Model Y is available for delivery this September.

Might be worth checking on Tesla forums to see if it actually is September!

Certainly don’t think you made a mistake in choosing the Q4, the mistake/oversight is your dealer not telling you about the delays. First thing I was told by the dealer when I ordered in February is that the wait is minimum 12 months, and this was before Ukraine impact, so I am expecting 18 months or more, I can afford to wait, so will collect as and when it is ready, but understand your situation, which must be very disappointing. My only concern is how much my order will eventually cost, with all the price increases! T&C’ s state Audi can pass on any increases between ordering and delivery.

I'm still waiting to hear back, not even had a response from the dealer. To be honest - I love the car - but what worries me most is that it's a 4 year lease ( Up from 3 years from ICU car). Due to a drive for green values, I am no longer able to order a replacement ICU car. I might not get the Q4 for up to 2 years. which means that the car will be 6 years old by the time the lease it finished. With the rate of advances in technology - it will be well past it's sell by date. Plus, being a company car enjoying favourable company car tax at the moment, what's to say that the Government would significant increase the tax in that time. I got seriously stung on an Audi A7 I once had because of this. Funny you mention the terms and conditions - just checked my lease terms and yes - they can up my personal contribution costs if the vehicle prices go up - which they will!

Our company uses a company called Ogilvie for their cars now.
Heard in the last week that the estimated wait for the Q4 is 18 months. I snuck my order in last April and received it December 13th (smug face emoji!)
Another colleague ordered an Xc40 Hybrid on Monday and had it cancelled for him on the Wednesday
